Where are My Lights?
You know, when you embark upon a home improvement project, you don’t always realize the importance of the small details. Such was the case with our kitchen remodeling project.
One of the small details that caused us a whole lot of headaches was the pendulum lighting. You see, we decided to install a peninsula with a breakfast bar and we thought the perfect detail would be to add some pendulum lighting over the breakfast bar. Not only would this help draw more attention to this feature, we also thought it would tie in nicely with the wall header that we had to leave in place in order to properly support the roof when we took out the wall that used to stand where the peninsula was being built.
Well, early on in the process, we thought we had our cabinet and color scheme figured out and, as a result, I decided to purchase some blue pendulum lighting that I thought would look great with our plan. As we explored more options, however, our plans changed and I decided to get red lights instead.
Taking the blue lights back wasn’t a problem…I wish I could say the same for the new lighting.
Ironically, when I purchased the original blue lights, there were plenty of red lights to select from. Now, I couldn’t find any red lights anywhere. I traveled to every home improvement store and even looked through their special order catalogues and I couldn’t find any of those red lights anywhere!
As you can imagine, I was feeling quite disheartened. After all, I had my heart sent on getting those red lights, which I thought would look great against the black cabinetry and would tie in nicely with the cedar laminate flooring.
Fortunately, patience and persistence paid off and we finally found the red lights we were looking for. Check them out below! (Please keep in mind that this is still a work in progress, so this area is not fully finished)
Still, the moral of the story is not to let small set backs get you down. Sometimes, you won’t find all of the pieces you need when you think you need them. But, if you exercise patience, everything will ultimately come together just right!
