Who Would Have Thought A Faucet Could Mean So Much?
Have you ever shopped for a new kitchen faucet? If you are like me, there are two things you will be amazed by when you start your search for the perfect faucet. The first will be shock at the number of different styles, sizes and designs of kitchen faucets available. The second will be dismay at the price tags that come with many of these faucets.
Once you get past the initial paralysis brought on by the sticker prices of kitchen faucets, you will likely start to enjoy the shopping process. Who would have thought that there could be so many bells and whistles attached to a kitchen faucet? Gone are the days when you simply turned one handle for cold water, another for hot water and a magical combination for warm water. No, today’s homeowner wants more - and I am guilty of going for the faucet with all kinds of snazzy features.
Do I regret spending the extra money for a faucet with all of the features I wanted? Heck no! Do I regret that my 13-year-old son tried to “fix” it when it wasn’t working properly and ended up breaking it so it had to be replaced only weeks after it was installed? Heck yes! But, I digress…
When searching for a faucet for your kitchen, you should consider all of the ways you use your kitchen and which features will make your life easier. You also need to consider the overall look of your kitchen. Since my husband and I decided to create a kitchen with modern styling and with a more contemporary design, we decided we wanted to get a faucet with a sleek and simple design. We both had our hearts set on getting a handle with a gentle curve that didn’t require having handles on either side, which is one of the reasons we liked the one shown in the picture below. (Hey! I told you this is still a work in progress, so ignore the torn up window in the background and the lack of a backsplash, will ya?).
I also wanted to have the convenience of being able to spray my noodles or to fill pots and water plants without actually having to place things inside the sink to do it. That was another reason for selecting this faucet. As you can see, it stretches out quite far. (Yeah, I know the window is cracked. Give us a break, we’re getting to it…sheesh!).
Another thing that I like about this faucet is that the spray can be adjusted to several different modes, so I can spray things softly and gently or I can really pound them with water if I like.
If you like this faucet, I wish I could remember the brand name, but I don’t. I do know that we found it at Home Depot, however, and that Home Depot seemed to have the best selection of faucets when compared to popular home improvement stores such as Lowe’s and Menards. So, if you are planning replace your faucet, be sure to check them all out in order to get a good idea of what is available.
