Dog bombs!

Yeah, I’m talking about dog poop! We have a 100 pound black lab and a 40′ish pound corgi terrier mix and between the two of them they more than adequately cover our backyard with their output. The question is, what to do with the stuff? Before we had kids we simply allowed nature to attack the issue but with a two year old and one year old roaming about we had to come up with a plan. At first I picked up their presents using the old inside-out-grocery-bag-on-hand trick. That worked OK for a few plops but very quickly became too much to handle. Next we purchased a Poop Hound from our local Petsmart store. While this tool worked much better it was a real pain to attach the plastic sack and quickly became very cumbersome under the load of doodles. One day out of desperation I decided to use the little cat box sifter. It was nimble and picked up the doggie droppings quite easily, but where should I put it? I walked over to our rear flower bed and deposited the contents of the mini-shovel. “Wonderful,” I thought. After a few trips I grew weary of bending over, picking up, walking across the yard, and repeating the process. “I bet I could just throw these turds into the flower bed from here,” I thought. The plan worked and to this day if you look at just the right angle or through my neighbors second story window you just might see me flinging dog poo across my backyard into the flower bed. Thank goodness for eight foot fences!
