Hail Damage
Hail is a fact of life in North Texas. During the 2008 spring we were hit with a massive hail storm that destroyed nearly every homeowner’s roof on my street, but shingles and roofs are not the only casualties. Virtually anything you might keep outside uncovered could be at risk during a hail storm.
Nearly all of our old window screens and plastic moldings were damaged during the storm. In these photos you can see that the wire screen is torn in a few spots and the plastic has been shattered in many places.
Our mailbox was also damaged and of course our roof on our house and shed needed to be replaced. I learned that you can probably go a year or two without replacing damaged shingles, but after a couple of summers (especially in Texas) the heat will eventually render the shingle and possibly the plywood underneath useless.
After researching several roofers in our area we decided on All American Roofing & Siding and worked with Bill Casher who provided wonderful customer service and worked with our insurance company to keep the process moving.
